Alistair Appleton is in the Yorkshire Dales helping a fitness enthusiast first-time buyer armed with £280,000 and the moral support of his mother find a home where he can run free in the countryside.

While in the area, Alistair learns about the efforts to increase the number of native Dales ponies, currently a critically endangered breed. He also takes to the reins and enjoys a ride through the countryside the breed is historically linked with.
